Oaks Park High School is seeking a passionate and experienced leader to join our Senior Leadership Team as Assistant Headteacher for Literacy & Communication.  In this pivotal role, you will play a key role in driving innovation and excellence in literacy and communication skills development across Key Stages 3-5.

About You: 

  • A highly motivated and inspirational leader with a proven track record of success in curriculum leadership.
  • A passionate advocate for literacy and communication skills, with a deep understanding of effective teaching and learning strategies.
  • A skilled and experienced practitioner with the ability to promote high standards of teaching and learning across the English, Drama, Media, and Reading curriculum.
  • An outstanding communicator with the ability to build strong relationships with staff, students, parents and external partners.
  • A strategic thinker with the ability to develop and implement a vision for literacy and communication across the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development, implementation and monitoring of the English, Drama, Media, and Reading curriculum.
  • Drive innovation and best practice in literacy and communication skills development.
  • Raise standards of student attainment and achievement within the curriculum.
  • Provide ongoing professional development opportunities for teachers in literacy, EAL integration, and effective communication strategies.
  • Collaborate with external partners to support EAL learners and their families.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding literacy and communication development.
  • Line manage the School Librarian, EAL Coordinator, and TLR holders within the curriculum areas.
