Job overview

Job Title: Assistant Principal - Curriculum

Location: East London

Hours: 36 hours per week, full-time

Salary range: Competitive, circa £80,000 per year

Waltham Forest College is one of the most successful education and skills providers in the country, as evidenced in the Outstanding Ofsted grade that it was awarded earlier this year. Embedded as an impactful anchor institution in the local area, the college has an income of around £32m, a broad offer and a focus on outstanding teaching, learning and support.

Our ongoing journey of growth and transformation over the last few years has brought about impressive successes in our outcomes and an aspirational culture with a passionate, committed workforce. Our financial health is also rated as Outstanding, we have delivered significant year on year growth in income and we have exciting capital projects underway to further enhance our innovative facilities. Recent developments have included accreditation as a World Skills UK Centre of Excellence and achieving the Mayor of London’s quality kitemark for six key areas.

We are seeking a new Assistant Principal Curriculum who, as a member of the college’s Senior Leadership Team, will play a key role in cross-college strategic direction and will have an impact on taking the college “beyond outstanding”. Reporting to the Deputy Principal Curriculum and Quality, and one of three Assistant Principals of Curriculum, this role will lead on a significant range of the college’s provision, championing aspiration, ensuring consistently high standards and delivering an excellent student experience. Key to success will be getting the best out of our talented staff and encouraging ongoing innovation, while ensuring our offer consistently evolves and makes a positive impact for our students, employers and communities.

This role presents an excellent opportunity to prepare an individual for the next stage in their career, due to the scope of the remit and our focus on empowering and developing our people.

Our successful candidate will have a robust track record in curriculum and quality leadership within Further Education, with experience of leading teams to deliver high outcomes. Our values are important to us, so we will welcome an individual with a collaborative, inclusive approach, along with a solutions-focused mind-set and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. We are not stipulating experience of any specific areas of provision; we are flexible to consider leaders from all curriculum areas, as long as they are driven to delivering excellence and committed to embedding an aspirational environment.

What’s in it for you?

We offer the opportunity to help develop your skills and knowledge in a friendly team environment, plus a range of benefits including a career average pension scheme, employee assistance programme, enhanced sick pay, NUS Employee discount, free onsite parking, cycle to work scheme and Sodexo benefits scheme.

Equality, diversity and inclusion

We are committed to creating and promoting a diverse and inclusive workforce that better reflects the wider community we support.

Safeguarding

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety of our students and expect everybody working for the College to share this commitment. We actively seek DBS clearance checks for applications of employment as part of our safeguarding procedures. In line with KCSIE 2024 and Safer Recruitment principles the college reserves the right to conduct online searches of shortlisted candidate.

Closing Date: 15 September 2024

Interview Date: Week Commencing Monday 16 September 2024

*Please apply as soon as possible as applications will be considered upon receipt; we reserve the right to interview before the closing date*.
