We are looking to appoint an Assistant Teacher & Coach to support all departments, to participate fully in student enrichment activities and to cover lessons for absent teachers. A particular area of specialism within the curriculum is preferred but not essential. This role could suit someone with an interest in teaching training in the future or an experienced teacher taking a break from full time teaching.


Job Description

The main purpose of the role is to:

➢Support departments across the school, including within an area of specialism/expertise (if applicable) in a coaching capacity.

➢To participate in and assist with school enrichment activities to include trips and events.

➢Supervise students’ work and offer support where necessary.

➢Monitor the needs and behaviour of students, and report these to teaching staff where appropriate.

➢Support departments in preparing and planning cover work ready for lessons

➢Ensure cover work set by the absent teacher is delivered to and completed by students whilst correctly following seating plans.

➢To liaise with relevant staff to ensure you are equipped and informed to effectively supervise the lesson.

➢Feedback to teachers on lessons and learning activities either through lesson notes or email.

➢Establish and maintain a safe and secure learning environment and develop constructive relationships with students.

➢Assist with invigilation for exams and assessments when required.

➢Assist teaching staff with creating and maintaining displays throughout the school.

➢Be a good role model to students in terms of behaviour and attitude.


Previous experience is preferable but not essential as full training will be given.

Eggar's School is a co-educational academy school based in Hampshire for students aged 11-16.

It is situated at one end of the historic Wey Valley, beneath the wooded slopes of the Hampshire Downs. In 1968 the school moved from its original site to the modern buildings and spacious grounds it now occupies at Holybourne. In 2012 the school became an academy.

The school has a house system. Each student and member of staff is put into one of three houses.

Over the last 5 years the school has been one of the highest performing schools in Hampshire.
