Trinity Academy Grammar

Associate Assistant Principal

(Curriculum Leader Technology & Whole School Responsibilities)

Leadership L8 – L12 (£56,082 - £61,882)

If you are an aspiring senior leader, with the vision to drive the strategic direction and development of the academy’s student attainment and achievement, this role offers an outstanding opportunity to play a key role in the further development of Trinity Academy Grammar.  You must be fully committed to optimising the opportunities that are available to children and young people, secure in the knowledge that you will be joining an ambitious forward-thinking Academy Trust.  The successful candidate must be passionate about improving students’ life chances through the provision of the highest quality of education and committed to achieving excellent results for the students.  You must have a strong work ethic and high expectations of yourself and others, with the ability to lead staff and students in realising those expectations.

Over the last 6 years we have appointed five people to AAP positions, all of these have gone on to the position of Assistant Principal within two years.  We believe this speaks volumes of our power to take the right people and successfully develop their latent potential.

A successful applicant will have three areas of responsibility:

  1. Leading the development of the Technology curriculum.
  2. An area of academy wide responsibility that aligns with the areas of both interests and strengths of the applicant and the needs of the school.
  3. The general responsibilities associated with a senior leader’s position in our academy

With regards to the second point, we would work with the successful candidate to ensure there is a meaningful area of school that you will take the lead on.  This could be in Teaching & Learning, Curriculum & Assessment, Personal Development or Pastoral.

Trinity Academy Grammar has had a plethora of successes.  In February 2023 Ofsted graded the academy as good with outstanding features in leadership and personal development.  This followed being awarded the World Class School mark in 2021.  These transformational changes mean that it is an exciting time to join the academy, we are incredibly proud of our successes, and we are looking for the best people to work alongside our already committed team to continue our journey.  We believe in recruiting people that share our values and ambitions.  If you would like to discuss this position further or to visit the academy, please get in touch via jwood@grammar.trinitymat.org.

Start Date: January 2025

Closing Date: 9am; 14th October 2024

Interviews: Week commencing 14th October 2024.

The Trinity MAT were first approached to work with the then Sowerby Bridge High School, when it had been graded as inadequate by Ofsted and had been ranked in the bottom 15% of all schools nationally.

After joining the MAT in 2018 the progress made has been outstanding. The academy has improved its Progress 8 outcome by 0.92 and the performance puts us comfortably in the top 1% of most improved schools in the country.

In September 2021 we will be adopting the new name of Trinity Academy Grammar to better communicate our identity, high standards and aspirations for our students. We have chosen a name which truly reflects our grammar school heritage, and to better showcase our core values of Empathy, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility, as we continue to build on this legacy through our outstanding achievements and passion to help our students reach their full potential.

It is a very exciting time to be considering joining Trinity Academy Grammar.  We can offer candidates the opportunity to work in partnership with the Principal and the senior leadership team, teachers in the school and other professionals across the trust (including the Teaching School and West Yorkshire Maths Hub).

The working environment is supported by committed, hardworking and supportive colleagues who are focused on improving outcomes for our students. Comprehensive pastoral systems are embedded to ensure the behaviour of students is outstanding and they are happy and supported in their learning.

As an academy we have high expectations of staff, we expect staff to challenge our students and themselves. We set high standards and aim to display these in all that we do. Working for Trinity Academy Sowerby Bridge is rewarding, we can offer a fantastic environment, excellent CPD programmes and a range of opportunities to progress.
