Job overview
Discover what we can offer you
Would you like to work nine days but be paid for ten? What really sets The Highcrest Academy apart is our teachers: their passion drives our progress and transforms the way we think and work, and in return, we are committed to their well-being and mental health. We understand the pressures that working in education can place on individuals and are always looking for ways to improve working conditions and offer our staff incentives that are not always available in education.
From September 2024, we will be implementing a nine-day working fortnight for all staff. The premise is simple: you will work nine days but be paid for ten, using the tenth day to ‘reset’, thus giving you the opportunity to manage your work/life balance more effectively. You will also enjoy a Wellness Day to relax and unwind every year in addition to school holidays.
In addition, we offer significant investment in your professional development and the possibility of onsite accommodation if you need to relocate. You can also expect facilities that are second to none, including an excellent canteen, gym and coffee shop, but above all, you will relish the satisfaction of transforming futures and helping our students overcome obstacles to experience life to the full.
Take your career to the next level

Business Studies courses for KS4 and 5 are offered within the Business and IT department. There is an experienced Head of Department who leads a team of committed and established specialists. The school offers a broad range of Business courses and has a particularly strong and popular Sixth Form Business Studies programme. The number of Sixth Form students taking the subject has grown year on year. Our recently opened Sixth Form centre offers state-of-the-art facilities. It is used extensively by students studying Business Studies and IT in Key Stage 5. We have an established Young Enterprise Club, as well as the Business and Computing lunchtime club.
In addition, there is the possibility of a TLR for the right candidate who wishes to develop into middle management. If you wish to take accountability for elements of the curriculum and teaching and learning within the Business department, there is the possibility of Second in Department.

Indeed, we value a strong work ethic and aim to develop, sometimes hidden or unsuspected talent, into fruition.
At Highcrest, we are committed to setting high expectations for the conduct of our pupils and believe it is crucial for there to be an established culture in which all are able to excel. We want all the children who come to the academy to enjoy their learning and to become thoughtful, articulate, confident and responsible members of society.
Our personalised curriculum is enhanced by numerous extra-curricular opportunities, community and business projects, national and international competitions and a thriving House System. This encourages staff and students of all ages to work together.
The Highcrest Academy is the only all-ability academy in Buckinghamshire and is a culturally diverse, over-subscribed school, making it a fantastic place to teach. There are approximately 1000 students on roll, including Sixth Form. We know from pupil surveys that students are proud of our school and, when parents have been surveyed, the level of parent satisfaction has also been exceptionally high.
We are very aware that The Highcrest Academy is part of a community and we work hard to instil a sense of local and global responsibility. This means that students take part in many activities which enhance the local community, and have a real understanding of their role in improving the work community.
Our mission is to create a positive, secure and happy learning environment where all students experience success, friendship, respect and self-worth; where students value and celebrate the diverse talents and cultural heritage of all, and achieve their full potential in becoming responsible citizens, respecting the rights of other and contributing to our society.
