Job overview
We need someone to help our students find their way beyond St Bede’s College - advising them on career options, helping them access online career tools, delivering advice sessions and keeping us all abreast of changes in the world of work. This is an exciting time to take on a careers role at St Bede’s as we roll out the Bedian Research Programme across the school to help our pupils develop their character and better equip them for working life.
This role will involve a lot of 1-2-1 career advice sessions with our older students (Years 10-13), but as we are a 3-18 school you’ll also get the chance to work with younger pupils from Year 3 upwards and with parents/carers at careers events and advice evenings. You’ll work closely with our Sixth Form and Pastoral teams on career events and university and apprenticeship applications, and will be welcomed into the supportive St Bede’s College community.
Ideally you will be qualified to Level 6 in Career Guidance and Development, but we’ll support you to achieve this qualification if you don’t have it. What matters most is your interest and experience in the world of work and ability to relate to, and work with, young people. Experience in administering online tests, managing databases, writing and delivering career-based lessons or organising events would be welcome.
By its nature this job can be flexible and we would be happy to discuss part time or full time working over 3-5 days per week in term time (36 weeks/year). There will be the need for occasional evening work. Full-time equivalent salary £30-38,000.
St. Bede’s College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and completing an enhanced DBS check.
