Pontefract Academies Trust is a cross phase Multi-Academy Trust comprising of eight schools: six primaries and two 11 – 16 secondary schools. Our schools are run for the benefit of children and young people, and we have unwavering focus on achievement which is paramount so that all of our children and young people enjoy greater life chances.


The Rookeries J, I & N School is an Ofsted ‘Good’ school with EYFS and behaviour judged ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted. We are situated in the south-east of Pontefract in a semi-rural setting opposite the picturesque Carleton Green. The Rookeries backs on to open fields and the Rookeries' trees – after which the school is named. The school hosts the Wakefield Local Authority Primary Resource for deaf and hearing-impaired pupils which is the only primary resource within the authority. There are currently places for 16 pupils who need hearing support and they are fully integrated into school life.


We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, hardworking and committed Caretaker to join the team at The Rookeries Junior, Infant and Nursery School. The successful candidate will work under the instruction and guidance of the Headteacher to provide a well maintained, safe, secure and clean working environment for the school. They will take responsibility for the management and delivery of reactive maintenance tasks and undertake compliance checks as required, alongside supervising the cleaning team to ensure all areas meet the high standards expected by the school.


This is a 37 hours per week, all year round, permanent contract.


The working hours for this role are to be worked in a split shift format of Monday to Thursday 06:30 – 10:00 and 14:00 – 18:00, and Fridays 06:30 – 10:00 and 14:00 – 17:30.


We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic person who:

 

  • has a passion for helping pupils thrive and meet their full potential.
  • has a friendly manner and can communicate effectively with staff and students.
  • can work effectively as part of a team but can also work independently using their own initiative.
  • has experience of working in a similar specialist area.
