Queen’s College Nassau is a mixed Methodist all-through school situated in Nassau, the capital and largest city in the Bahamas. It is an English language independent school and a grant-aided institution under the auspices of the Bahamas Conference of the Methodist Church. The QC Foundation was set up to help the school in its mission of providing high quality education to the region. The school has a school roll of over 1,700, including students between the ages of 3-17, from its Reception Year all the way up to its High School. The school awards Advanced Placement, Advanced Subsidiary and SAT II courses, as well as MOUS and A+ certification.
The school is the oldest private school in the Bahamas, and originated in January 1870 when the Chairman of the Methodist Church of the Bahamas, Reverend Henry Bleby proposed to London’s Methodist Missionary Society there should be a Methodist school established in his own country. The Bahamas Wesleyan Propriety Institution, as it was known then, opened its doors to students the following year. The current head was appointed in September 2019 and is the school’s 15th principal.
