Due to expansion, we are seeking an enthusiastic and committed teacher to teach a class in our inspiring special school in Poole. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of outstanding classroom and co-curricular practice with a specialism in EYFS and ASC. However, we also welcome applications from ECTs and offer a comprehensive support package.
Victoria School is an exciting, innovative and dynamic special school (3-19) for students with physical disabilities and communication needs. Our vision is to be a school where successful learning and high levels of achievement prepare children and young adults for fulfilling future lives. We have outstanding, forward-thinking staff who continually develop their practice and work together to make sure all young people have every chance to achieve their potential.
The school is operated by Shaftesbury, a national disability charity, with a Local Advisory Board providing additional support and challenge. The school admits pupils from a number of neighbouring local authorities and some from further afield. All pupils have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) associated with physical disability or complex medical conditions, and most have additional learning needs. Some pupils have profound or complex learning difficulties.
The successful candidate will be able to inspire students through the delivery of engaging lessons, support our pupils to reach their full potential, build positive relationships and ensure all student achievements are recognised and celebrated.
As a teacher, you will have examples of impact both within the classroom and in co-curricular activities. You will be supported by an enthusiastic and enabling SLT who highly value the work of class teachers as a core and vital component of our educational offer, enabling us to improve the life sum of every learner.
Key Responsibilities:
• Ensure the planning and delivery of a high-quality, engaging, and inclusive curriculum that enables every pupil to achieve their full potential.
• Work at all times towards the School’s aim of improving the life sum for every pupil.
• Collaborate with staff school-wide in both academic and therapies provision to enhance the effectiveness of the school's provision for every pupil.
The ideal candidate will have:
• An EYFS ASC specialism with excellent teaching knowledge and expertise, able to teach effectively in a special school context.
• Experience of, or an interest in, achieving excellent outcomes for students with significant ASC.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and a passion for innovation in education.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
• Demonstrable qualities and attributes of being open, yet uncompromising in the pursuit of highest quality of education provision.
