Job overview

The British School in The Netherlands is among the leading British international schools in Europe and the oldest non-for-profit international school in The Netherlands. Established in 1931, and set on four stunning campuses, the BSN has a reputation for providing an outstanding education to over 2,000 students aged 3 to 18 years representing over 80 nationalities. The BSN is non-selective and an innovative role model in promoting high quality educational practices both in school and remotely.

Our JSL campus opened in 2009 and is a three-form entry primary school with around 340 students.

Successful candidates:

The successful candidate must be a qualified teacher with a recognised degree and teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE or a B.Ed.), experienced and able to demonstrate an outstanding teaching ability and an up-to-date knowledge of the English National Curriculum & Assessment for Learning.

A willingness to work collaboratively with a job share and plan across the curriculum to meet the needs of all learners is essential, as is the desire to work closely with parents and to support school events. There is also a willingness to support the breadth of opportunities through delivering activities beyond the curriculum and working day so a flexible and co-operative approach to work is essential.

Life in The Netherlands:

The Netherlands is one of the most welcoming of all EU member countries to professionals working abroad and is a very pleasant country in which to live and work. The Netherlands regularly tops surveys on child wellbeing.

The working language of The BSN is English. The Dutch are excellent linguists and English is widely spoken by around 70% of the population.

Transport services and connections are excellent - our campuses are located in The Hague, just 30 or so minutes from Amsterdam Schiphol airport, or in the other direction, from the Hoek of Holland ferry terminal. Public transport is fast, reliable and generally good value for money, but many choose the truly Dutch option of cycling, making good use of the highly developed network of cycle paths.

There is much more you can find out about the school and living in The Netherlands from our website - www.britishschool.nl

What we offer:

  • At the BSN you can expect to be working with motivated pupils;
  • State of the art facilities and talented teaching professionals, who are passionate about children and learning;
  • We offer excellent CPD opportunities for our staff plus very attractive benefits (including relocation);
  • Salary will range between €4,516.00 to €5,881.00 gross per month (inclusive of holiday pay), depending on experience and qualifications.
