This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity for both an aspiring or experienced Teacher to join our team, based in our school in Northampton.
New Horizons Academy is an alternative education provision for learners aged 5 to 11 and whose needs cannot be met within a mainstream environment. In particular, the Academy provides placements for young people in the Northamptonshire area who exhibit social, emotional and behavioural concerns. We are committed to investing in the learning and development of students with educational, behavioural, social, or emotional learning difficulties under the instruction of their line manager or teacher in the classroom; enabling students to become independent learners and helping to raise standards of achievement.
We pride ourselves on delivering bespoke learning packages to vulnerable and SEN children. As well as supporting our students to excel in basic academic lessons, we also offer an array of social enrichment learning through both creative, therapeutic and practical approaches such as cookery, art music and outdoor learning.
We are committed to investing in children to enhance their skills and experiences in the classroom and outdoors.
Overview of the role of Teacher:
- supporting pupils and parents/carers in maximising effective learning and inclusion for pupils.
- maximising the educational opportunities for pupils excluded, or at risk from exclusion from schools.
- teaching, supporting pupils and promoting the philosophy and development of inclusion.
- delivering specialist support teaching service to the school, parents and children.
- liaise with other agencies and services relevant to service delivery.
- inspiring learners with curriculum based learning in the classroom and outreach through outdoor activities
- preparation of learning material and delivery of learning objectives with a strong focus on social and emotional health assessment tools
- daily reports on learners progress and barriers to learning
- work collaboratively with members of SLT, Teachers and Advocates to support students and their parents
We would love to hear from people who:
- are passionate champions of vulnerable students and those with SEND
- have strong english and maths skills
- would like the opportunity to teach students outside of a mainstream environment
- would like the opportunity to progress within the school and obtain career focused professional qualifications
- actively contribute to school safeguarding and welfare procedures
Training and development opportunities will be offered. All staff are encouraged to study further, and the trust will actively support staff to obtain relevant further qualifications where possible.
Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK and hold a current driver’s licence.
