Job Overview

We seek a Class Teacher to work in Key Stage 1 or 2

We are looking for an inspirational, enthusiastic and well-organised colleague who will excel within our school. This role will involve contact with children most of the time and so the ability to relate to and motivate young people is essential. It will also be necessary to work flexibly and efficiently in a dynamic and lively environment, as part of a high-performing team.

This job is a class teacher role; you will report to the Phase Lead but may be required to work within any team in the school as needed.

About Us

Galleywall Primary School is a diverse and vibrant school where we strive for every individual to achieve their best. We are proud to foster a school community which brings together many different people from many different cultures, religions and ethnicities. We celebrate our differences and support children to be compassionate towards each other.

We have five core values; we aim for our pupils to be enlightened, aspirational, entrepreneurial, individual and compassionate

The Galleywall curriculum is holistic and challenging, rooted in our local community and supplemented with a huge range of out-of-class experiences.

Galleywall is a part of the prestigious City of London Academy Trust (COLAT), sponsored by the City of London Corporation. The Trust is driven by the ambition to be the best. We believe that exceptional staff create exceptional schools; they transform lives and shape the future of every student. COLAT currently oversees seven secondary academies, three primary academies and one sixth form centre, all located in and around central London, combining the heritage and tradition of the Corporation of London with a genuinely innovative, enterprising, and entrepreneurial ethos.

Galleywall is based in the heart of an evolving community in Bermondsey and values its diversity in both pupils and staff. We welcome candidates to join our team from all backgrounds.

Galleywall opened in September 2016 and was graded Outstanding by Ofsted in 2019. We reached our full complement of children from Reception to Year 6 in September 2022. Our SATS results in 2023 and 24 were all above national average and are on track to increase significantly in subsequent years. This will be achieved by our broad and innovative curriculum and a highly professional and committed staff team.

We are proud of our programme of training and development for all staff, plus excellent career advancement opportunities within this growing trust.

The school has recently appointed a new Headteacher and has committed to further building its already outstanding holistic offer, second to none in the private or state sectors, as well as a programme to challenge the most able.

About You

We need enthusiastic, talented individuals who have a passion to make a difference to the lives of our pupils and who have the tenacity to achieve excellence even in challenging circumstances.

Our staff are vital to ensuring that our pupils achieve their full potential and become confident, resilient and compassionate individuals who can make a positive contribution to society. If you match our ambition and want to join our dedicated team of professionals, we would love to hear from you.
