Job overview

The Role

Classroom Teachers at DBS have responsibility for securing the highest standards of achievement, specific to the year group, subjects and students that they teach. This occurs through excellent teaching, effective monitoring, evaluation and review of the learning progress and teaching outcomes, and setting targets for improvement. Each year group operates as a tight-knit unit, ensuring that all children receive the same opportunities, and that all Class Teachers feel supported as part of a strong team. A range of subject-specialist teachers will enhance the curriculum.

Key Stage 2 class teachers will take responsibility for the academic and pastoral development of students in their class. They will teach wellbeing, English, Maths and join Games sessions twice per week and support school sports fixtures. In Year 6, teachers teach across the year group in a subject where they have a specialist interest and knowledge (either Art, Drama or Humanities). The Teacher must subscribe fully to the core values of DBS, and understand how academic study, pastoral care and co-curricular activities contribute equally within it. The Teacher will be responsible to their Head of Section.

The candidate is expected to start in the role from April 2025, but the school will consider an earlier start if the candidate is available.

Remuneration

The successful candidate will receive excellent salary and benefits commensurate with their experience.

This will include:

  • Competitive salary.
  • On-site accommodation (if recruited from overseas) for first year of contract at least. Option to move off-site and receive housing allowance from the second year.
  • Start and end of contract flights (for dependent spouse and children too).
  • Annual flight allowance (for dependent spouse and children too).
  • Medical insurance (for dependent spouse and children too).
  • 100% Tuition fees contribution for up to two children, three for teaching couples (50% for subsequent children).
  • An end of contract gratuity.

About Denla British School, Bangkok

Denla British School aims to nurture and develop great global leaders by developing knowledge, values and skills through our 5 pillars:

  • An enhanced British curriculum
  • Academic excellence for all
  • Entrepreneurship and creative thinking
  • Thai values in a global context
  • Wellbeing and sustainability

The School is currently enrolling students aged 2 – 17 (Pre-Nursery to Year 12) and this year is our first year of Year 13.

Our vision is “to nurture and develop great global leaders” and to provide an inspiring and caring environment in which students develop a lifelong passion for learning and fulfill their unique potential. Our DBS curriculum emphasises the development of knowledge, values and skills and is grounded in the National Curriculum for England whilst also incorporating the best elements of a variety of international curricula. It is enhanced by an extended school day and our holistic vision for learning. We emphasise the importance of academic rigour, whilst also recognising that learning is not the sole domain of the classroom. Our co-curricular programme of activities is therefore central to each student’s learning journey at DBS. During a regular day at school, for instance, students might find themselves calculating mathematical equations, practising a musical piece by Chopin, and participating in a debating competition. We believe that our enhanced curriculum will cultivate increased engagement, motivation, and enjoyment for students.

Our school campus is spread across 18 acres, complete with contemporary, state of the art buildings which includes a swimming pool, 3 sports halls, football pitch and athletics track, 600 seat auditorium, black box theatre, climbing wall, golf simulator fitness suite and much more! Students of all ages will benefit from an array of purpose-built, premium facilities that support our holistic educational vision.
