Title: College Counselor
The Island Private School of Limassol in Cyprus opened for the first 500 students in September 2022, and is now looking for competent, experienced and, above all, passionate College Counselor to join the team.
We are also in the process of planning our new school campus on a beautiful 50,000 m2 site to be completed approximately by end of 2025, that will include kindergartens, elementary and high schools, an international boarding school, and accommodation for teachers. This is a great opportunity to join a growing school on the cusp of a major turning point.
The Position:
As a College Counselor, you will play a pivotal role in guiding students through their academic journey and college admissions process. Responsibilities include academic advising, college admissions counseling, career guidance, and addressing personal and social concerns.
Responsibilities:
1. Engagement and Interaction – School Ambassador to Internal Community:
- Promote the mission and philosophy of the school
- Establish a safe, purposeful learning environment for all students
- Promote the progress and well-being of all students
- Engage and motivate the students to be ambitious for themselves and others
- Supervise students in and out of classroom activities as part of the regular curricular and extra-curricular school programmes
- Participate in extracurricular duties that assist in growing the school
2. Individualised College Counseling:
- Work with high school students to create personalised college plans, including academic and extracurricular recommendations, standardised testing strategies, and course selection.
3. College Application Support:
-Assist students in preparing and submitting college applications, including helping with essays, resumes, and other required materials.
4. Admissions Testing:
- Provide guidance on SAT/ACT test preparation, registration, and strategies for success.
5. College Research:
- Stay current on college admissions trends and maintain a database of colleges and universities worldwide, including their programs, admission requirements, and scholarships.
6. Financial Aid and Scholarships:
-Advise students and parents on financial aid options, scholarships, and assist with the FAFSA and CSS Profile applications.
7. Interview Preparation:
- Conduct mock interviews and prepare students for college admissions interviews.
8. Campus Visits:
- Organise college fairs, campus visits, and informational sessions to expose students to various college options.
Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree in education, psychology, or a related field;
- Relevant experience in education or counseling;
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with students, parents, and colleagues;
- Understanding of college admissions processes, requirements, and trends;
- Ability to empathize with students and patience in addressing their concerns;
- Effective organizational skills to manage caseloads and conduct workshops.

Our Campus
Currently we are operating in a temporary campus, opened in September 2022 which includes 3 areas: Pre-Primary, Primary and Secondary School as well as outdoor sport courts, playgrounds, canteen, 2 art studios, 2 music rooms and 2 libraries.

Drawing inspiration from renowned educational projects worldwide and working in collaboration with one of the leading architectural bureaus, we are about to shape the future of our school. Among other features, the permanent campus will include 5 laboratories, 2 art studios, swimming pool, sports base for both indoor and outdoor activities and much more.
