Join the vibrant team at The Brooksbank School as a Communications Manager and embark on a journey that is not only professionally fulfilling but also makes a significant impact on our educational community. Effective communication lies at the heart of a successful school, and as a member of our Communications Team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping this narrative at a key moment in our story.

Take pride in crafting a diverse range of top-notch communications materials from captivating videos to polished print materials, compelling social media content to carefully honed copywriting, and coordinating live events. This role promises to be creative and varied.

As a Communications Manager, you will have the opportunity to do more than ‘sell’ the school, making a lasting difference to the school’s culture and success. Your expertise will contribute to our strategic plans and help us showcase the profound impact that effective communication can have on our students, parents, and the entire school community.

We are seeking an experienced, versatile Communications Manager who can bring a broad skillset to the table and shape this new role. Organised and clear-thinking, you’ll be able to contribute to our communications strategy, lead projects and manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a busy environment. Strong writing skills for a variety of purposes and audiences are essential, as is strong design sense and attention to detail and quality. You’ll be confident and able to build strong productive relationships at all levels, from senior colleagues to student leaders, from journalists to contractors. Whilst an interest in working around young people is essential, your background might extend beyond the education sector, bringing a fresh perspective to our team.

Rest assured, you won't be embarking on this journey alone. You'll have the support of an experienced Communication Assistant and will be part of the skilled communication team working across Together Learning Trust schools including design and video talent. The school’s Senior Leadership Team holds the communications team in high regard, understanding the immense value it brings. Moreover, this role isn't confined to a desk. You'll have the privilege of interacting with students and teachers, making this position enriching and never dull.

If you're a proactive, relationship-building self-starter who thrives on creativity and variety, we want to hear from you. Become an integral part of The Brooksbank School's story, where your communication expertise creates lasting impact.

If our school sounds like a place in which you could really make a difference, then we’d love to show you around and tell you more about our wonderful school.

CHARACTER BUILDING SINCE 1712

The Brooksbank School has a long and proud history serving the community of Elland. 1700 students make it the second largest comprehensive high school in Calderdale and one of very few to have maintained its own sixth form centre.

Brooksbank is a school that is absolutely committed to exceptional academic achievement: ranking highly amongst the top of non-selective schools in Calderdale. We are also a school which understands that true accomplishment lies beyond this success, and that dedication to the arts, sport, media and community will shape our students to become our future leaders.

2022 began a new chapter in The Brooksbank School’s journey as we joined Together Learning Trust. This is an exciting time to join a committed and supportive staff team, dedicated to school improvement and providing an excellent education for every student, every day. Just like our students, you’ll find opportunities here to shine and represent the #spiritofbbs.

Location:

Brooksbank is set in a stunning Calderdale location with beautiful green fields and open countryside, and just two minutes from Junction 24 of the M62 motorway to Leeds and Manchester. It also boasts easy access to urban culture and excitement in Halifax and Sowerby Bridge and is a ten-mile drive away from hotspot Hebden Bridge. It’s a great place to live and provides many opportunities for students.

Did you know:

  • Sporting success is in Brooksbank’s DNA. It teaches us the value of teamwork, determination and perseverance. We have fantastic facilities, including a FIFA-grade all-weather 3G sports field and a picturesque cycle track set in its own grounds.
  • Brooksbank celebrated one hundred years of teaching and learning in 2011. However, our school was founded 300 years earlier by its generous namesake, Joseph Brooksbank. The successful London haberdasher remembered his roots when he provided education for forty children in Elland. This philanthropy provided Brooksbank with firm foundations, and a legacy that still inspires as we provide our students with exceptional learning and growth opportunities in numerous dynamic and progressive teaching and enrichment spaces.
