About the Role

The Community Development Officer will support the strategic objectives of Canberra Grammar School by supporting the management of our integrated Community Development and CGS Foundation Office. The position will interact with a range of stakeholders, engaged in fundraising and community engagement activities. The role has close contact with high-profile and high-value relationships and must exercise discretion, diplomacy, and a high degree of professionalism in dealing with all parties. 

About You

The successful applicant is expected to demonstrate: 

  • Demonstrated ability in providing administrative support to a busy office, taking responsibility for its day-to-day functioning, and in the provision of high-level assistance to senior staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to work flexibly, independently, and within a team environment, using initiative, judgement and discretion and adhering to strict confidentiality protocols.
  • An ability to work collaboratively and adaptively within a dynamic and busy team.
  • A warm and engaging manner of communication with the ability to build relationships in person, on the telephone, and in writing.
  • An easy capacity to engage and work with stakeholders of varied ages and backgrounds, including students, parents, staff, and alumni.
  • Excellent skills in writing with clarity, accuracy, and warmth.
  • Excellent IT skills including Office software, database maintenance, social media management, publication preparation, as well as email bulletin and basic website editing.
  • A commitment to operational efficiency and improvement.
  • A willingness to learn, to undertake training as required, and to grow and evolve with the role.
  • A willingness to uphold the values of the School.
  • Be proactive with a high level of initiative and self-motivation; and
  • An ability to work within prescribed timelines and meet deadlines.
