The Kathmandu International Study Centre (KISC) is a co-educational school which is BSO and MSA accredited, and serves more than 200 students aged 4-18, from over 20 countries. It is a school with a Christian ethos, flowing out of its mission, vision and values.
KISC comprises a Primary and Secondary School, as well as a Teacher Training establishment, called EQUIP. Our mission is to provide excellent education, primarily for the international mission community and Nepali school communities, based on KISC values. Through our schools and the EQUIP programme, students and staff are helping to transform children’s lives, as well as making a positive impact on wider Nepali society.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and versatile Computer Teacher to join our expanding team. This role involves delivering engaging instruction in computing at both primary and lower secondary levels, with potential expansion into teaching IGCSE Computer Science. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for inspiring young learners, strong pedagogical skills, and experience working in an international school setting.
Reporting to the Head of Computing, your key roles and responsibilities will be:
- Develop and implement dynamic and age-appropriate computing curriculum for primary and lower secondary students, covering fundamental concepts such as digital literacy, digital creativity, digital citizenship, computational thinking, and basic programming skills
- Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment where students feel empowered to explore and engage with technology
- Plan and deliver interactive lessons that cater to the diverse needs and learning styles of primary and lower secondary students, fostering curiosity and critical thinking.
- Assess student progress through a variety of formative and summative assessments, providing timely feedback to support growth and development
- Collaborate with colleagues to align curriculum across primary and lower secondary levels and ensure continuity of learning
- Stay abreast of current trends and developments in computing education, integrating relevant technologies and resources into teaching practices
- Prepare interested students for the possibility of studying IGCSE Computer Science, providing foundational knowledge and skills necessary for success
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and other relevant data, and communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications, skills and experience.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Education, or a related field; Masters degree is ideal
- Teaching certification (preferred) or credentials in Computer Science or relevant subject area
Skills and Experience
- Experience teaching computing or related subjects at both primary and lower secondary levels, ideally in an international school setting; familiarity with IGCSE curriculum is advantageous
- Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals, programming concepts, and educational technologies appropriate for primary and lower secondary students
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with, and inspire young learners
- Adaptability and creativity in designing instructional activities that promote active learning and engagement
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous improvement in teaching practices

A local cost of living allowance is provided which covers basic living expenses, but in the majority of cases our expatriate staff raise additional funds either through supporting churches/agencies, or through their own savings.
We cover the cost of a flight to and from Kathmandu at the start and end of two years of service. We also cover visa and work permit fees (visa post holder) and his/her dependent children who study at KISC, if required. In addition, we provide medical & travel insurance.
