Job overview

 Full Time Term Time Only

We are looking to appoint a Cover Supervisor on a full-time basis (term time only) to join our University Technical College (UTC).

The UTC opened in September 2014 in a new state of the art building. This is not only a relatively new school, but a new approach to educating 14–19-year olds; which is possibly the most exciting change in the education landscape in decades.

All students at UTC Heathrow specialise in either Engineering or Digital subjects; at 14 they will also study a broad and balanced curriculum and at Post 16 the curriculum becomes more specialist with A Levels in Physics, Mathematics and Computer Science. In addition, students can study a specialist BTEC Level 3 course in Engineering or IT/Computing and /or L3 Cyber Security. At capacity, we will be educating 500 students who will all have a passion for Engineering or Digital; it truly is an inspirational environment.

This role will provide you with:

  • Focused lessons - only covering KS4 and KS5 classes.
  • Passionate students.
  • Opportunities for career development as the UTC grows and across Activate Learning Education Trust.
  • An opportunity to be at the forefront of STEM education

If you believe that this is an environment where you can thrive, develop, and substantially contribute to an exciting future for UTC Heathrow, then you are encouraged to explore further by contacting the Headteacher Jas Kallah, for a more detailed discussion, if required.

Completed application forms with an accompanying supporting letter should be emailed to HR@heathrow-utc.org

Closing Date: 23/10/2024 by midday

Interviews: To be confirmed.

We are an equal opportunities employer and are committed to the safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.

UTC Heathrow is a mixed University Technical College located in Northwood in the London Borough of Hillingdon. It offers its 14-19 year-old students a range of full-time technically-oriented courses with an emphasis on engineering, maths, science and IT. It currently has just under 250 students enrolled but this is expected to expand to its maximum capacity of 400.

UTC Heathrow {originally known as Heathrow Aviation Engineering UTC} opened in 2014 - in response to growing demand for high-calibre professional engineers and technicians, aided by partnerships with Brunel University London, and major local employers British Airways plc and Heathrow Airport.

Students regularly get the chance to work on practical projects with these partners as part of their study, as well as more traditional classroom-based and workshop learning.
