The Role

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join our team. The role involves supervising a variety of classes across the school and delivering cover work to students in the absence of their normal class teacher. You will work closely with your line manager to develop your role to meet the needs and demands of our growing school.

Main Purpose

The Cover Supervisor will supervise a variety of classes across the school and deliver cover work to students in the absence of their normal class teacher. The following job description is not exhaustive, and it is expected that the Cover Supervisor will work closely with their line manager to develop their role, to ensure it reflects the needs and demands of the post as the school continues to grow.

Duties and Responsibilities

Cover:

  • Provide supervision of classes in the short-term absence of the subject teacher.
  • Supervise classes.
  • Liaise with subject leaders and other staff as required regarding staff absence and cover work.
  • Keep up to date on legislation regarding cover issues in schools.
  • Contribute to school self-evaluation regarding cover.


General:

  • Communicate the school vision effectively to the general public and generally act as an ambassador for the school.
  • Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health and safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to the Headteacher / your line manager.
  • Ensure compliance with responsibilities as laid out in the school’s Equal Opportunity Policy and take an active role in promoting equality and diversity.
  • Undertake such other duties as reasonably correspond to the general character of the post.
  • Attend team meetings as appropriate.
