Slough and Eton is looking for someone to join our in-class support staff as a Cover Supervisor, working on Thursdays and Fridays. This is an exciting opportunity for anyone interested in a career in teaching to work in a classroom setting and to gain valuable experience whilst also making a difference to the education of our students on a daily basis.

Cover Supervisors take classes when the regular teacher is absent. They make sure students are completing the work set by the teacher, support those who need additional help to complete what has been set and feedback to the teachers afterwards. When not supervising in class you will be observing the practice of others to support you when leading in the classroom and will be linked to one of the core subject areas (English, Maths or Science).

Previous Cover Supervisor or Learning Support Assistant experience would be helpful, but is not essential as we will provide all the necessary training to help you to be successful. The Cover Supervisor team are hardworking, dedicated to ensuring students of all abilities can succeed and, crucially, committed to being a great role model in the classroom.

We are relentlessly focused on ensuring great teaching, learning and experiences are at the core of what we do in line with our mantra: Work Hard, Be Nice, No Excuses. We value experienced teachers joining our staff team as much as we do those new to the profession and encourage teachers at all stages of their career to apply. We also welcome applications from colleagues who may wish to explore flexible working arrangements.

Slough and Eton is a great school in Chalvey, Slough and is easily accessible via the M4/A4 and only a 20 minute walk from the Elizabeth Line at Slough train station. If you are interested in finding out more then watch our video https://www.slougheton.com/uploaded/Slough_Eton/Slough_Eton_v2.mp4 and read the welcome letter from our Headteacher. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. This post is subject to satisfactory references, Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check and evidence of essential qualifications and proof of legal working in accordance with the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996.

You can apply online via TES or you can apply via our application form that can be found on our school website. When applying please ensure that you address why you are applying for this particular role and why our school. Generic supporting statements are rarely shortlisted. Completed applications can be sent to Kirstin Sutherland, HR Manager at vacancies@slougheton.com. CVs alone will not be accepted as a valid application.

Closing date: Wednesday 6th November (9am)         Early applications are encouraged.

About Slough and Eton CE Business and Enterprise College

Slough and Eton is a great school and I am immensely proud to have joined it as Headteacher in September 2017.  Pupils and students at Slough and Eton are expected to work extremely hard and are encouraged to achieve their very best in all that they do.  As a result of their tremendous work ethic they achieve extremely well and we are very proud of them.  We believe in educating the whole child and as such place great importance on the many cultural experiences we provide for pupils and students as well as the academic ones.

As a Church of England school we welcome pupils from all faiths, foster a culture of tolerance and understanding throughout the school and are always delighted to show visitors the fantastic things that happen here.  We have a thriving and growing Sixth Form and enjoy using excellent facilities.  If you are interested in finding out more about our school then please do come and visit us.  I would be delighted to show you around, along with some pupils and give you the opportunity to talk informally with some staff about what it is like to work at the school.

Mr Peter Collins
