PAY GRADE: 06 Job I.D. 1131
30 hours a week
Term time only plus 5 days
JOB PURPOSE:
Provide cover and supervision during lessons to ensure set work is completed by students.
LOCATION:
Ysgol Clywedog
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Regular cover in other departments such as reception/student support/reflection room
- Updating and maintenance of corridor displays
SUPPORT FOR THE PUPILS:
- Use experience to support pupils.
- Provide feedback to pupils in relation to progress and achievement.
SUPPORT FOR THE TEACHER:
- Be responsible for maintaining a purposeful and orderly working environment
- Understand and follow lesson/work plans, worksheets, plans etc.
- Promote and ensure the health, safety and good behaviour of pupils at all times
- Undertake marking of pupils work within specialist areas and accurately record achievements/progress
- Invigilate exams/tests when needed
SUPPORT FOR THE CURRICULUM:
- Be responsible for maintenance/quality/safety of specialist equipment/materials
- Demonstrate and assist in the safe and effective use of specialist equipment/materials
- Provide advice and guidance as required
- Deliver learning activities to pupils
SUPPORT FOR THE SCHOOL:
- Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security and confidentiality, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person
- Be aware of and support difference and ensure all pupils have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop
- Contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the school
- Establish constructive relationships and communicate with other agencies/professionals, in liaison with the teacher, to support the achievement and progress of pupils
- Recognise own strengths and areas of expertise and use these to advise and support others
- Participate in training and other learning activities and performance development as required

Ysgol Clywedog is a co-educational, non-denominational secondary in Wrexham, north-west Wales. There are approximately 850 students on the school roll. The school is located next to Clywedog Leisure and Activity Centre, and both are named for a nearby river. The town of Wrexham has a population of 61,00, and is the fourth largest urban centre in Wales. The school was opened in 2003, and its motto is ‘being the best that we can be’.
