Job overview

We are seeking experienced, passionate Science Teachers to join our teaching team in September 2024. To work as Cover Teachers across Science subjects and teach pupils in our Senior School. Teaching expertise in the Science subjects is required, and experience of the British curriculum (or similar) is preferred. Specialism in teaching Physics and/or Biology, is of particular interest.

Our Cover Teachers are responsible for teaching Science subjects in Biology, Physics, Chemistry, or Combined Science, to senior students aged 11 - 18 years. Supporting Form Tutors in our pastoral team, our Cover Teachers will be responsible for delivering high quality lessons in their particular specialism in Science, while supporting students to achieve their best.

Successful candidates should have a recognised teaching qualification (ideally B.Ed., PGCE, or similar), and at least three years' experience as a Science Teacher in the British schools curriculum, IB curriculum, or similar. Exposure to an international school environment is an advantage.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Deliver high quality teaching, learning & curriculum development
  • Create a stimulating class environment to promote effective teaching & learning
  • Develop appropriate, differentiated schemes of work for teaching Science subjects
  • Plan and prepare courses for assigned timetabled classes and groups
  • Prepare courses which make provision for students of differing ability in all subjects
  • Monitor & track pupils’ achievements at regular intervals
  • Ensure the discipline and safety of all pupils in assigned groups and classes
  • Participate in preparing pupils for internal and external examinations
  • Participate in the break duty rota, when required
  • Participate in professional development and training as required    
  • Demonstrate a flexible approach in the role

Person specification

Essential experience, skills and abilities

  • A recognised teaching qualification 
  • Minimum three years’ teaching experience in Sciences
  • Experience in British Schools curriculum, IB curriculum, or similar
  • Experience teaching Science subjects to students aged 11-18 years
  • The ability to work with a range of pupils at all levels
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Enthusiasm that inspires others
  • Positivity, perseverance, and a good sense of humour
  • IT / EduTech skills
