Defence Children Services (DCS) has staff working in Military establishments across the world. St John’s School is one of our 21 MOD Schools and Early Years Settings providing education for the children of Defence Personnel (service and civilian) serving overseas. It is a small but vibrant 11-18 secondary school serving the military community in British Forces Cyprus.

This role is an exciting opportunity to contribute to our DCS vision to Educate the Child-Support the Family-Defend the Nation.

We are looking for a suitably experienced teacher of Drama, to teach throughout Key Stages 3, 4 and 5. The successful candidate will also be able to teach English at Key Stage 3. The ability to teach other subjects will be advantageous owing to the size of our school.

The purpose of the job is:

  • To ensure learning and outcomes for students learning drama, the key areas of responsibility for this role include:
  • To endeavour to ensure continuous outstanding student achievement through setting high expectations, effective teaching, and learning, closely monitoring progress and giving positive and effective feedback.
  • To contribute to the routine administrative work of the school and teach a broad, balanced and stimulating curriculum across the full range of abilities, helping students develop independent learning.
  • To make a full contribution to the wider life of the school and community.
  • To model positive behaviour management strategies in a Teaching, Mentoring or Form Tutor capacity, creating an environment of mutual respect which allows students to feel safe and secure and promotes self-esteem.
  • To engage fully with the whole school improvement cycles including individual performance reviews.
