Haberdashers’ Adams is a selective state grammar school with academy status situated in the small market town of Newport in rural Shropshire. It is a newly co-educational school from September 2024, taking approximately 30 girls into year 7. There are five forms of entry and currently about 1050 pupils on roll; approximately 100 of these are boarders. The Sixth Form has about 370 students of whom about 120 are girls.

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, adaptable and hardworking team player to look after the well being of the boy's resident in the Junior Boarding House, and contribute to all aspects of the running of the Junior Boarding House, whilst reporting to the Lead Matron and Head of Junior Boarding. The Deputy Boarding Matron hours are, 4 evenings a week 7.30-9.30pm (Mon-Thurs) on duty and at weekends (on Rota) also providing on-call support overnight for the duty weekends, should a boarder become unwell.

Actual salary for Mon-Thurs evening, £4,228-£4,349 pa (Dependent on experience), plus Remuneration for weekends and on call, this will be discussed at interview.

Haberdashers' Adams (formerly Adams' Grammar School) is a co-ed selective state grammar school in the market town of Newport, Shropshire. Founded in 1656, the School welcomes boys and girls aged 11-18 as day pupils, with boarding for boys.

Entrance to the School is highly competitive. The most common points of entry are via an 11+ examination for Year 7, or following GCSE exam results. Former pupils of the school are known as Old Novaportans.
