Due to the current post holder relocating, we are seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic Deputy Director of Science to join our successful and supportive Science Department at Fulwood Academy at Easter. In 2023: our Ofsted inspection recognised us as “Good” in all areas, you will join a fabulous team of staff and pupils and a happy school community.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Science to drive high standards and excellence across all areas of the department, contributing to the strategic development of Science within the school. Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Leadership:
- Support the Head of Science in leading the development and implementation of the department's strategic plan.
- Contribute to the development of a robust and engaging curriculum for both Triple Science and Dual Award.
- Collaborate with senior leaders to align department goals with whole-school improvement priorities.
2. Teaching and Learning:
- Lead on ensuring high-quality teaching and learning practices are consistently applied across the.
- Deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that meet the needs of all learners, including those with SEND, Pupil Premium (PP), and English as an Additional Language (EAL).
- Develop strategies to monitor and improve pupil progress, ensuring that pupils are challenged and supported to achieve their full potential.
3. Raising Attainment:
- Track and analyse pupil progress data, implementing interventions where necessary to improve outcomes, particularly for SEND, PP, and EAL pupils.
- Work with teachers plan and deliver effective lessons that cater to diverse learning needs and maximise attainment.
- Support the development and delivery of targeted interventions for underperforming pupils in both Triple Science and Dual Award pathways.
4. Personnel Leadership:
- Assist the Head of Science in the management and development of the Science team, including mentoring and coaching staff.
- Lead professional development sessions, sharing best practices and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Oversee the induction and development of new members of the Science team ensuring they are supported to excel in their roles.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a proven track record of successful teaching in Science.
- Experience in raising attainment for a diverse range of pupils, including those with SEND, PP, and EAL.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to inspire and motivate colleagues and pupils alike.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- A commitment to professional development and a passion for improving outcomes for all pupils.
