About Sherborne Qatar School for Girls
Sherborne Qatar School for Girls, a STEM School, opened in a new purpose-built school building in January 2021 on a brand-new site near Doha Festival City, Qatar. The school is for girls from Pre-School to Year 12 and is marketed equally to local pupils and expats, but the majority of girls comes from the local community.
The school is divided into three sections: Pre-Prep (Pre School to Year 3), Juniors (Year 4 to Year 8) and Seniors (Year 9 to Year 12). The whole school follows the British National Curriculum for most of the subjects and The Ministry of Education of Qatar’s curriculum for Arabic and Islamic Studies. The language of the playground is English.
Sherborne School is one of the UK’s most prestigious independent schools which has been providing outstanding education since 1550. Its sister school, Sherborne Qatar, is now entering its fifteenth year in Doha and has established an enviable reputation with both the Qatari and expat communities for quality, all round British education and “Outstanding pastoral care” (BSO report). Sherborne School has a strong educational belief that, for many pupils, single sex education between the ages of 14 and 17 is advantageous, with a return to co-educational education for A levels.
This is in the best traditions of British education and is the educational philosophy behind the girls’ school.
We want the girls to be future leaders in their chosen professions and we will use the STEM subjects to develop their confidence, to encourage them to use their imaginations, to develop teamwork and collaboration and to develop a sense of purpose, of charity and service.
In order to achieve this vision, we are seeking to appoint enthusiastic and innovative teaching professionals to join our school and help our Headmistress develop our ethos inside and outside of the classroom.
