Shrewsbury School in the UK is a leading independent school with a rich history dating back to 1552. Due to open in 2025, Shrewsbury International School India (SISI) will be founded and based on the same values, ethos and philosophy as the 472-year-old UK school. SISI will be a co-educational boarding school for pupils aged 11-18 years. 

Applications are invited for the Deputy Head Pastoral of Shrewsbury International School India (SISI), the fourth in the Shrewsbury International School family and the first to be opened in India. SISI will benefit from strong partnership and collaboration with Shrewsbury School, as well as other Shrewsbury international schools across Asia. The partnership with Jagran Social Welfare Society (JSWS) will see the development of a 150-acre campus featuring state-of-the-art academic, co-curricular and residential facilities to accommodate all aspects of a full school life.

The Deputy Head Pastoral will manage the school’s pastoral care team and oversee all aspects of pupil well-being and safeguarding. They will play a crucial role as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, contributing significantly to the school's strategic planning and direction. The Deputy Head Pastoral will ensure the development of a pupil-centric culture that supports each pupil’s opportunity to thrive in a happy and vibrant learning community.

The Deputy Head Pastoral will develop and implement proactive pastoral care strategies and oversee the provision of personal development programme through House system. They will direct and support housemasters, housemistresses, and tutors as they deliver outstanding wrap around care and guidance that facilitates each pupil’s personal development and academic progress.

As well as being a seasoned boarding school educator, the ideal candidate will be an exceptional leader and communicator. Their educational philosophy and approach to pastoral care will be driven by strongly held values that align with the strategic mission and aims of SISI. They will have a collaborative and enabling style, bringing out the best in others, one which demonstrates a clear commitment to holistic education and boarding.

The successful candidate may also be considered for the position of Senior Deputy Head, presenting an exciting opportunity for further career development. The individual appointed as the Senior Deputy Head will deputise for the Headmaster, hold additional cross functional leadership responsibilities, and have a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction and ensuring the overall success of Shrewsbury International School India.
