Job overview
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a talented, highly motivated and experienced teacher to lead the pastoral life of the school at our Urca Site, a co-educational day school which caters for around 500 students from age 11-18. Students broadly follow the UK national curriculum in Years 7-9, IGCSEs in Years 10 and 11 and the IB Diploma in Years 12 and 13. The role forms an important part of the Urca Leadership Team and reports directly to the Head of Urca Site.
The Deputy Head Pastoral is responsible for managing the Heads of Year and Heads of House, overseeing student welfare and discipline, acting as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, overseeing our well-established house system, carrying out admissions interviews and assessments for new students and coordinating the school’s PSHE provision.
We are looking for a collaborative, empathetic and authoritative leader with a proven track record of delivering excellent pastoral care. The role would suit either an experienced pastoral middle leader (such as Head of Year or Housemaster/Housemistress) or an existing Assistant/Deputy Head looking for a new challenge.
The successful candidate will be rewarded with motivated and caring colleagues at a well-established international school which consistently achieves results above the global average at both IGCSE and IB. The post comes with a competitive salary and includes accommodation as well as a unique environment to work at the foot of Sugarloaf Mountain. Staff are provided with a school laptop and access to a variety of online platforms to support teaching and learning, along with a strong commitment to professional development.
To apply, please send a letter of application, full curriculum vitae and the contact details of three referees by email to applications@britishschool.g12.br
