Job overview

We are seeking to appoint an inspirational and dynamic Deputy Head Teacher: a gifted practitioner and passionate, experienced leader who is excited by the prospect of working in our vibrant and diverse community.

About Springfield School

Springfield School is a special school for children aged 3 to 16, with a wide range of SEND including Severe, Profound and Complex Learning Difficulties. There are currently 104 pupils on roll. We recognise the importance of making learning vivid and real, as well as an enjoyable and challenging experience. Through focusing on individual needs and building on what our pupils already know, we develop appropriate skills for adult life.

There is a clear focus on communication alongside personal and social skills as these are fundamental to further development within other areas of learning. Springfield has a strong Positive Behaviour Support ethos: we value the time given to reflecting on individual pupil needs and working on strategies to promote engagement and quality of life. Springfield continues to develop their own Progression of Skills documents to reflect the achievement of the range of needs and abilities.

Springfield School has two sites, one for primary aged pupils and the other for secondary. Both sites are co-located with mainstream schools, with the primary classes sharing a building, shared spaces and corridors with a mainstream primary school. There are significant opportunities to promote a truly inclusive culture across the mainstream schools and Springfield School community.

About You

We are looking for an inspirational leader to assist the Head Teacher in leading Springfield School through its next period of opportunity, growth and development.

The successful candidate will bring their leadership experience, operational and strategic abilities and extensive knowledge of SEND to the role. They will also be a skilled SEND practitioner, modelling and understanding excellent classroom practice. They will have the ability to engage pupils with severe learning difficulties and profound and multiple learning difficulties, and have a clear commitment to improving pupil outcomes.
