‘Supporting children from Early Years to Employment.’

The Trustees of QUEST wish to appoint an outstanding new Deputy Headteacher and are seeking an inspirational and talented leader with an unshakeable belief in the right of children to high-quality technical education.

This is a really exciting opportunity and a great time to join our Trust - the person we appoint will be able to quickly make a real difference to hundreds of young people’s life chances.

We have an aspiration and determination to deliver exceptionally high quality technical and academic education for all students who attend our school. The school is a University Technical College encompassing Key Stages 3 and 4, along with a Sixth Form provision. The school has modern, comprehensive facilities and is located on the campus of the University of Bolton.

We are looking to appoint a new permanent Deputy Headteacher for the school, to support the staff and students with vision and passion and ensure that, in the future, the UCS delivers an outstanding technical and academic education for the community it serves.

The person appointed will be a strong and resilient leader committed to delivering the very best for every student, and every member of staff, at the school.

They will also understand, and believe in, the ethos and practicalities of a UTC and the difference a high quality technical education can make to young people’s life chances.

This will be a challenge: students at UCS need their school to improve very quickly, which will require a leader who has significant successful experience leading schools in highly challenging circumstances.

The new Deputy Headteacher will have support – from the Headteacher, CEO, the Quest Trust and, as a UTC, from the Baker Dearing Trust.

The UCS is a University Technical College encompassing Key Stage 3 and 4, along with a sixth form provision.

The UCS has an outstanding facility for 11 to 19 year olds which includes specialist laboratories. Our facilities uniquely inspire and motivate our students to succeed in their studies and propel their careers forward.

To accommodate the growing student numbers, a new £17million extension is underway and is scheduled to open in September 2025, along with our Multi Use Games Area which opened in September 2024, providing an incredible space for our students and the local community to engage in a wide range of sports and activities. This fantastic addition reflects our commitment to promoting health, well-being, and inclusivity.

Our staff are subject specialists who employ a wide range of teaching and learning strategies.

The UCS is proud to be an inclusive school. Our values of Professional, Responsible, Loyal guide everything we do and govern how we treat all our stakeholders. We take inclusion seriously and make sure that each individual in our organisation is seen and cared for.

Our school expanded to 11-19 in 2020, and as we grow we want to continue to deliver education differently. We are proud to be sponsored by the University of Bolton, located on their knowledge campus and supported by our trusted industry and health sector partners.

QUEST Trust supports young people from Early Years to Employment.
