Job overview

Pilton Community College is a member of Ventrus, a group of Devon schools who actively collaborate to improve children’s outcomes. As a Trust, we offer excellent career and development opportunities. You will work in a highly supportive team within a positive setting.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and resilient leader to join our senior leadership team who are committed to establishing Pilton as an outstanding school; the successful candidate will take up the post in September 2021. We are looking for a person with a proven track record in bringing about change, an innovator and excellent teacher who can inspire both students and staff to achieve their full potential. Leading on teaching and learning and driving curriculum development are key aspects of the role and the knowledge and ability to support staff in the development of these areas is essential.

The successful candidate will be joining an established team that is supported by a committed group of middle and executive leaders, who share in the school’s values and desire to provide an outstanding education, in its widest sense. As one of our Deputy Headteachers you would play a key role in driving the school’s continued journey of rapid and sustained improvement.

Traditional values underpin everything that we do at Pilton Community College and if you are appointed you. The Deputy Headteacher will model our high expectations and use the school values positively to reinforce the highest standards of behaviour at all times and encourage students to show respect for themselves, others and the world around them. The development of positive relationships and student ownership in all aspects of school life are essential ingredients that make our school community special.

Barnstaple is the social centre of North Devon. As one of the UK’s oldest boroughs, it has a rich history with a wealth of things to see and do. There are several family-friendly attractions, a bustling high street with a range of big brand shops, traditional family businesses and access to some of the most beautiful scenery in the UK. Within easy travelling distance of the North Devon Coast, an area of national beauty, there is a wide range of activities available, from walking some of the most beautiful cliff paths on the British coast to more extreme water sports for the more adventurous.

Our recruitment pack gives further details of the post, the recruitment process and an overview of the wider Trust. We hope you will be inspired to apply for this exciting opportunity.
