We are looking to recruit an exceptional and innovative leader to join us at Rumworth School as our Deputy Headteacher for Quality of Education – Outcomes and Impact.

This is exciting new post has been created to work alongside our existing Senior Leadership Team.

Rumworth School is an “Outstanding” LA maintained special school in Bolton catering for children aged 11-19 who all have an EHCP. Our students have a wide range of SEND including MLD, SLD, ASD and other complex needs, physical disabilities, HI, VI and SLCN. We do have around 300 very special reasons why you should join us, and they can’t wait to meet you!

Our school has recently been re-designated for further expansion to become a 400 place special school and we are due to have another building programme to extend our facilities in order to accommodate planned growth.

Our ethos is “Start with the young person”. You will be a champion for education as a vehicle to improve the life chances and outcomes for our students. Our vision is “You can do it, we will help” and so you will embody our philosophy of supporting young people to be more “Confident, Resilient and Independent”.

All students access appropriate external accreditation at the end of KS4 and during KS5, and our accreditation offer includes GCSEs, ASDAN, BTEC, Functional Skills and Entry Level Certification, dependent upon student ability.

In KS5, students continue to follow the most suitable curriculum for their ability, and we then offer a Year 14 Transition where some students continue on to the “Pathway to Employment” route, and those with more severe learning difficulties and complex needs would usually follow a “Pathway to Independence” route.

We are always keen to recruit staff of the highest calibre, and what matters most to us is that you are the “right fit” for our students and our staff.
