Position Overview:

The Deputy Headteacher with responsibility for Seniors (IGCSE) academics and pastoral care will play a critical role in maintaining the high standards of education and well-being at Thames British School. This position involves oversight of academic programs, pastoral care, examinations, and general deputy tasks, ensuring that students are well-supported both academically and personally.


Key Responsibilities:

Academic Leadership:

  • Oversee the implementation and quality of the IGCSE curriculum.
  • Ensure effective teaching practices and monitor academic performance.
  • Support teachers in delivering high-quality education through professional development and instructional guidance.

Pastoral Care:

  • Foster a supportive and inclusive school environment.
  • Address the social, emotional, and behavioral needs of students.
  • Promote the school's values and ensure the well-being of all students.

Examinations and Assessment:

  • Manage the administration of all internal and external examinations.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of student progress and results.
  • Implement and monitor assessment policies and procedures.

Staff Management:

  • Assist in the recruitment, induction, and development of teaching staff.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth among staff.

Student Development:

  • Coordinate counseling and guidance programs to support student academic and personal development.
  • Monitor student progress and implement interventions where necessary.
  • Engage with students and parents to address any issues impacting student performance and well-being.

Operational Leadership:

  • Assist the Headteacher in the day-to-day running of the school.
  • Lead school assemblies, meetings, and other events as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with school policies and regulatory requirements.

Community Engagement:

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with parents, guardians, and the wider school community.
  • Promote the school through events, communications, and community partnerships.
  • Represent the school in professional networks and external forums.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in Education or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Extensive experience in teaching and leadership within a secondary school setting.
  • Strong understanding of the IGCSE curriculum and assessment processes.
  • Proven ability to manage and support staff effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to student welfare and development.
