An exciting opportunity has arisen at Q3 Academy Tipton and we are seeking to appoint a Deputy Headteacher to lead on Inclusion from Easter 2023 or sooner if available. You will be an ambitious, motivated, compassionate senior leader with a proven track record of school improvement and raising standards. The school is on a rapid improvement journey and you will need to be fully committed to investing time, effort and expertise with all teams at the school to further contribute to this journey.
The Academy
We are seeking a new colleague to join a team of collaborative and supportive senior leaders following the current post-holder’s successful appointment to a new school after lengthy service here. We have no pre-conceived ideas as to who we are looking for, but you must be completely committed to inclusivity for all students as well as dedicated to building positive and respectful relationships with our young people, their families and the wider staff team.
As part of this journey with us you will find it extremely rewarding personally and professionally; there can be significant barriers and challenges to overcome but our children, their families, the wider community and the school itself all deserve to have the very best people championing them whilst maintaining high standards.
Our new Deputy Headteacher will:
· be a proven and experienced senior leader with a track record of high expectations and school improvement;
· work well with other colleagues on the shared vision and improvement journey;
· explicitly contribute to improving teaching and learning across the school;
· will strategically lead inclusion, in particular this will mean:
- being the school’s designated senior leader for safeguarding (DSL);
- line managing the Assistant Headteacher for Behaviour and Attendance, the SENCO, our Welfare Team as well as curriculum middle leaders.
Invitation to tour the school and meet the headteacher: Tuesday 22nd November 10:00am, Thursday 24th November 2022, Thursday 1st December 8:30am (please email c.brookes@q3tipton.org.uk to confirm attendance 24hrs in advance)
Deadline for applications: Tuesday 3rd January 2023, 3:00pm
Provisional interviews (TBC): Week beginning 9th January 2023
The Mercian Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All offers of employment are subject to an Enhanced DBS check, and where applicable, a prohibition from teaching check will be completed for all applicants.'

About Q3 Academy Tipton
A Welcome Message from our Headteacher
Q3 Academy Tipton is a large, diverse, and exciting secondary school in the Black Country. We are growing in size, ambition and influence; all aspects of the school are rapidly improving. Our December 2022 Ofsted Inspection very rightly celebrated our warm, caring and inclusive community, recognised the incredible improvement journey we have been on as well as identifying appropriate next steps.
“Leaders have high expectations for pupils at Q3 Academy Tipton. They want all pupils to ‘live life to the full in pursuit of what is good, right, and true’. Pupils understand these expectations and appreciate the positive environment. Teachers treat pupils as individuals, and pupils welcome this. Pupils feel confident to ‘be themselves’ in this inclusive community. Pupils say that behaviour has ‘significantly improved’, and they feel safe in school.” Ofsted, 2022.
Our staff are highly committed and we invest in professional learning and development whilst striving to make the workplace as family friendly as we can, always seeking ways to reduce workload and enhance work-home balance. Our leadership is highly ethical, trusting and we value a diverse workforce.
