Job overview

Come along to the Rodillian Multi Academy Trust Recruitment Fair on 27 January 2024 to find out more.

Rodillian Academy is looking for a Deputy Headteacher who can join us in our aim to transform outcomes and aspirations for all students through the provision of first-class leadership. The successful candidate will take the lead on the following key areas of responsibility: Positive Discipline, safeguarding, attendance and SEND.

We welcome enquiries from those either seeking their first step into leadership at deputy level, or from an experienced Deputy Headteacher looking for a new challenge. Our leaders drive improvement, design innovative curricula and model excellence in teaching.

By joining us, you will enjoy excellent access to continued professional development opportunities and expert support from our leadership network across our family of schools and our highly experienced Executive Leadership Team.

Throwing horizons wide open for students, academies and staff, the Rodillian Multi Academy Trust’s core values make us truly unique. With a strong focus on resilience, growth mindset and positive discipline, the Rodillian Ethos has helped to transform schools – from their culture to their Ofsted ratings – as well as the lives of students and teachers. At the heart of our work is a concentration on delivering high academic standards that help young people become self-confident, develop a mastery of their chosen subjects, and discover and achieve their aspirations.

Our staff are our most important asset, as they look after our students. Because of this, we give them freedom in the classroom, support their development through our coaching model, and only assess them by their outcomes.

At its core, our ethos is as traditional as they come – excellent teaching, a focus on respect, good behaviour, fair discipline, and a strong curriculum – but it’s the way we go about applying these building blocks of education that make us unique.

We are always willing to take the lead in tackling important issues and if something isn’t working, then we’re open to changing the way we do things. It’s this approach that has helped us improve schools on Special Measures to the point that many have gone on to receive Good and Outstanding grades from Ofsted since joining the Rodillian Multi Academy Trust.

But we don’t just embrace every new trend on a whim, when the way we do things sees us step into new territories, we always commission research, plan carefully and ensure every change is the right decision for the Trust, our schools, staff and students. We’re never content to rest on our laurels – we always want to be improving and growing.

The Rodillian Multi Academy Trust is proud to do things differently. We have a reputation for high expectations for all, excellent staff/student relationships and a commitment to the personal and professional development of its staff. The Trust is recognised as one of the top performing Trusts in the country and is committed to providing private school opportunities in a modern comprehensive environment. We believe that traditional values of discipline and respect are sacrosanct. We do not tolerate bullying, defiance or rudeness to staff and this has made for a harmonious and safe learning environment for our young people, and a supportive environment for staff.

You will also be joining a happy Trust where 95% of colleagues agreed that they enjoy working here and 92% would recommend us to a friend or colleague (taken from 2022 staff wellbeing survey).

We encourage interested candidates to join us at our Recruitment Fair on Saturday 27 January 2024 (held at Rodillian Academy) from 9.30 am to meet the teams and to find out more about our settings. Please click here to register your attendance.

The Rodillian Academy is housed in a £30 million building. It has large, light and well-resourced spaces, over 1,000 computers, interactive Smartboards in every classroom, a dance studio, a recording studio two gyms and Astro turf pitches.

The Academy has been rated as 'Good' by Ofsted since 2012, with its most recent inspection in 2019, alongside leadership and behaviour being rated as 'Outstanding'.

Behaviour in the Academy is exceptional, and something which we are very proud of.

Our highly successful Sixth Form provision sits within the top 25% nationally too.

Our 2019 inspection saw Ofsted note that “Leaders ensure that pupils learn in a calm and supportive environment. Teachers do not accept disruptions to learning. Pupils behave well, and know who to go to if they need help. Leaders take bullying seriously, and pupils agree. Staff create an orderly environment based on clear routines. Staff encourage pupils to share their views in class, and relationships between pupils and staff are positive and respectful”.

At Rodillian we believe that traditional values of discipline and respect are sacrosanct. We do not tolerate bullying, defiance or rudeness, and this has made for a harmonious and safe learning environment for our young people.

We are proud of the supportive environment we provide for staff, where they can concentrate their efforts on teaching, and their own continuing professional development.

Our school is also committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Rodillian is a happy Academy where students and staff show respect, consideration, and kindness.
