“Opening hearts, minds and doors.”

The Board of Directors of St Joseph Catholic Multi Academy Trust is looking to appoint an outstanding Deputy Headteacher to support the Headteacher to lead Notre Dame Catholic College on the next stage of its journey. Notre Dame Catholic College is a compassionate Catholic community, inspired by the love of God, the teachings of Jesus Christ and its Foundress, St Julie Billiart. The College provides a broad and enlightening education to children from the ages of 11 to 18; something the Sisters of Notre Dame have done here in Liverpool since 1869. Notre Dame College is due to join St Joseph Catholic Multi Academy Trust on 1st January 2024. This is a unique opportunity to lead a large Catholic academy with a Sixth Form at an exciting point on its journey. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, you will focus your leadership skills on both the Catholic life of the school and improving standards of teaching and learning.

Notre Dame Vision: To Open Hearts, Minds and Doors.

Notre Dame Mission:

We are a compassionate Catholic community, inspired by the love of God, the teachings of Jesus Christ and our Foundress, St Julie Billiart.

• We open hearts to God’s love through a passionate and relevant Catholic experience.

• We open minds to new knowledge, ideas, theories, cultures and experiences, breaking cultural barriers through an imaginative curriculum and precise teaching.

• We open doors to ambitious, happy and fulfilled futures for every member of our Notre Dame family, accelerating social mobility through high expectations and academic standards.

Values: Charity Courtesy Courage Confidence

The successful candidate will:

  • be a practising Catholic with a strong faith commitment, who embraces the development of the Catholic life and mission of the academy as a core leadership responsibility within the distinctive charism of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur
  • be a confident and visible leader with a clear vision for Catholic Education and ensure that the example and teachings of Jesus Christ are at the centre of all that we do
  • have a strong understanding of evidence-informed school improvement and a proven track record of successful leadership with the vision, drive and energy to initiate, lead and manage improvement strategies in line with the Trust’s improvement strategy
  • have an excellent understanding of the CSI and Ofsted frameworks, be able to horizon-scan and continually strive for excellence in all aspects to ensure that each pupil fulfils their unique potential
  • be highly-skilled in effective implementation through robust systems and processes
  • have the ability to build relationships with staff, pupils, parents, governors and others working in St Joseph CMAT and a wide variety of external partners
  • work closely with the CMAT, Governors and the SLT to develop a compelling faith-centred vision for the school that acts as the focus of all activity and drives improvement
  • be able to inspire the whole community, build and maintain successful teams and work collaboratively with others to achieve success
  • be able to respond and adapt effectively to changing circumstances, maintaining high levels of performance
  • actively listen and effectively communicate to a wide range of audiences
  • place safeguarding at the heart of all decision-making

In return we can offer you:

  • enthusiastic and ambitious children and young people who are keen to learn
  • a highly supportive, effective and ambitious Local Governing Body
  • an academy which is fully staffed by a dedicated teaching and support team committed to supporting the academy and its pupils
  • excellent professional development opportunities
  • support from headteacher colleagues within the CMAT

You are advised that it is the intention of the Governing Body of Notre Dame Catholic College for the school to transfer and join St Joseph Multi Academy Trust on 1st January 2024. The reason for this is because the school wants to take advantage of the benefits associated with academy status and being part of a trust.

If the transfer goes ahead and you are successful in your application for the position at Notre Dame Catholic College and are already employed at the school, then your employment will transfer under a process known as TUPE from the school to the new trust. Your employment will transfer on your existing terms and conditions of employment with full continuity of service from when you joined the school.

The employer will be St Joseph Catholic Multi Academy Trust and accordingly salaries will be paid by the Multi Academy Trust.

Further information about the implications of this are available from the school. All employees will be informed of the transfer implications as part of the TUPE consultation process.
