Job overview

Deputy Headteacher SEMH Special School

(L18-L22)

Permanent/Full time

Required January 2025

IIn 2022 EdAct opened a brand-new school - Salmons Brook School (Group 5 when full). Salmons Brook School is a mixed special school, which caters for young people with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.

Our students’ primary need will be SEMH and some may have co-occurring needs in one or more of the following areas: communication and interaction; cognition and learning; sensory and/or physical needs. Our vision and core purpose is improving the quality of children’s lives by developing their potential.

Salmons Brook School provides a high-quality education for up to 70 children aged 11-18 with Social Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH). This provides the right candidate with the ‘once in a lifetime’ opportunity to be a key part of the early development of a new school and to help shape the school ethos. Experience in special education and/or leading large SEND provisions is essential. Ultimately, we think the ability to create a therapeutic approach whilst maintaining the academic ambition for children is the most important attribute.

The closing date for applications is 9am, 14 October 2024. Shortlisting takes place on 15 October 2024 with interviews on 18 October 2024.

For an informal conversation with the Chief Executive or if you would like to arrange a visit to Salmons Brook School, please contact the CEO’s Administrator Ms Jess Wong on ECSRecruitment@edact.org.uk or 020 8370 1914.

Apply online direct through TES or download an application pack from the Trust website.

Completed application forms to be submitted to ECSRecruitment@edact.org.uk

CVs will not be accepted as formal application.

EdAct is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All staff are expected to demonstrate this commitment by signing the school’s Code of Conduct.
