Job overview

Shaftesbury CE Primary School in Dorset is an exciting and creative school. We are perched 215 metres above sea-level, riddled with history and a beautiful place to be! Our school is very much part of the local community - we have strong links with the Church; we have wonderful support from the Governing Body, parents, a band of volunteers from the community and our PTA. We are committed to excellence in education and aim to INSPIRE children’s imaginations through a range of engaging and challenging learning experiences within a Christian environment.

Applications are invited for the post of Deputy Headteacher (without class responsibility) who will play a lead role in building on our excellent pastoral work to impact positively on outcomes for all children – whilst exemplifying excellence in and out of the classroom.

This is a great opportunity to join a rapidly improving, innovative and popular primary school with a very dedicated and hardworking staff team, excellent facilities, wonderful children and in a beautiful part of Dorset too. We are a Church of England School in the Diocese of Salisbury that welcomes those of all faiths and of none.

We are looking for an outstanding individual who:

- Is an excellent classroom practitioner

-  Has a passion for education

-  Is sympathetic to our Christian values

-  Can inspire and motivate our learners

-  Has high expectations to enable pupils to be the best that they can be

-  Can promote high standards of behaviour

-  Is a team player with the desire to learn and lead

-  Is committed to innovation, partnership, collaboration and sharing

We can provide you:

-  A wonderful location and school to develop your education career

-  Values and experience of high quality education

-  Supportive, experienced school team of staff and Governors

-  The chance to make a difference and contribute to the school’s further development

-  Training and leadership development

-  Support and collaboration with other schools across the Trust

-  The opportunity to work within SAT/SAST, a forward-thinking and growing multi-academy Trust.

Our values and ethos focus on developing a love of learning and high achievement, both personally and academically, which stems from our vision that we should all – ‘INSPIRE’.

The school, part of Southern Academy Trust, has an absolute commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. The successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced criminal record check via the DBS.

The Trust values the diversity of our workforce and welcomes applications from all sectors of the community.
