The City of Liverpool College is recruiting to the role of Deputy Principal, to build on and accelerate our innovative approach to turning student disadvantage to advantage. The successful candidate will join a senior team committed to delivering against a backdrop of high expectations and high performance, with responsibility for leading our pedagogy and insight and key student support functions as part of a learner-centric approach.
We are looking for a critical thinker with a creative side: someone with a track record in driving an outstanding and inclusive student experience, committed to their own continuing development and a robust, evidence-based approach to excellence in teaching and learning and practical change.
The City of Liverpool College serves over 10,000 students and close to 700 staff as well as hundreds of employers and the wider community across Liverpool and the City Region. As an insight-driven, ambitious college, COLC is home to ground-breaking innovation and a central part of the education ecosystem in the City Region. Our ambitious approach to turning disadvantage to advantage through all aspects of our delivery means the successful applicant will be supported to play a leading role in changing practice across the City Region in collaboration with key stakeholders across a wide variety of sectors.

Opened in 1992 after being formed from a number of colleges in the city we now have 5 locations situated in the heart of Liverpool. Currently the college serves more than a third of all 16-18 year olds in Liverpool, and educates almost 12,000 learners a year. In 2018 the college achieved a pass rate of 99.6% beating the national average of 97.6% for a-level results. Within this year as well we had a 100% pass rate in modern languages.
However, the college itself is not just facts and figures. The mission statement of provide high quality skills and education by delivering opportunities for growth to all people and business of the Liverpool City region, shows inclusivity and a community understanding. The ease in which to get here helps quite a lot to. Be it driving, buses, trains or even a ferry you are never short of options.
Being that working/living in Liverpool does offer a wide range of experiences to have. Historical buildings like the Bombed out church, Royal court theatre house or even a hidden gem like the Bluecoat School lane which boasts being the oldest building in Liverpool. The Beatles museum is a popular place to explore the band and possible find bits out about them you might not have known. Or if just unwinding and relaxing there are multiple pubs/bars, restaurants, and comedy nights to enjoy.
