An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the dedicated team at Welland Academy. We are seeking an enthusiastic, caring and skilled professional with a strong track record of senior leadership, clarity of purpose, and the ability to inspire children, motivate the community and have high expectations for all. The ideal candidate we seek is an individual who will bring energy, passion and professional knowledge to our wonderful and welcoming school. We are looking for someone who is an outstanding classroom practitioner. Experience and expertise in Inclusion and Special Educational Needs will be desirable.

As a high-profile individual within the academy, you will champion the Welland Academy ethos and values and will support and develop other leaders and empower their staff teams. As Deputy Principal, you will work with passion, pace, clarity and determination to move the academy forward.

Welland Academy is a friendly two-form entry school situated in the thriving town of Peterborough. This is a great opportunity for either an existing Deputy or Assistant Headteacher/Principal looking to take the next step in their career.

To be successful, you will:

  • Be a strategic thinker and an outstanding practitioner with proven leadership expertise
  • Be passionate about children’s learning and have a track record of raising attainment
  • Be a dedicated professional with the gift to inspire children and their colleagues
  • Have the ability to contribute to the development of a clear strategy and vision for raising pupil achievement and the continuous improvement of the school
  • Have experience of improving teaching and learning at the whole-school level
  • Have excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills and will use these to raise the profile of the academy and further integrate it into the wider community

Our academy is larger than the average primary academy. We opened in 2013 and boast a fantastic new building and a vibrant atmosphere. The Welland Academy formally joined the Greenwood Academies Trust on 1 October 2013. The Academy has wonderful resources in terms of a recent new build and attractive outdoor learning areas. Staff support at the Welland Academy is extensive with high level capacity being provided by the sponsor Trust.

The Academy is sponsored by the Greenwood Academies Trust (GAT), a not-for-profit multi Academy sponsor which specialises in working with schools in challenging circumstances and has a proven track record of delivering significant improvement.

Welland is an academy with high expectations of both its staff and pupils. Getting the basics right in terms of attendance, uniform and behaviour provide a firm foundation for staff to be effective in the classroom and help pupils go above and beyond expectations. Pupil performance at key stage two will hit floor targets for the first time this academic year.
