Deputy Principal (Primary)

Salary: CI$73,416- $96,336 per annum

The Deputy Principal (DP) is responsible for supporting the Principal in providing professional leadership and management for the school, and for establishing the values and aims to ensure a high-quality education for all students. The DP must support the establishment of a culture within the school which promotes excellence, equality and high expectations, and this can only be achieved by effectively managing teaching and learning in order to improve standards of learning and achievement. The DP is part of the senior management team of the school. Working with staff, students, parents and the wider community, the DP must provide vision, leadership and direction for the school and ensure that it is managed and organized to meet its aims and targets. The DP, working with Principal, is responsible for evaluating the school’s performance to identify priorities for continuous improvement and the raising of standards, for developing policies and practices and for ensuring that resources are effectively and efficiently used to achieve the school’s aims and objectives

Qualifications, Experience & Special Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and professional teaching qualification from a recognized institution/authority
  • Formal School Leadership Certification (either successfully completed or actively in progress)
  • 5 years of successful teaching experience, ideally with experience in a minimum of two schools (one of which has at least 2 streams)
  • The ability to support school improvement, evidenced by effective leadership of school-level projects and initiatives which have had a demonstrated positive impact on school performance
  • 2 years of successful experience in a leadership role (for example, as a subject coordinator, PYP coordinator, literacy coach, inclusion specialist, etc.) in a minimum of two schools
  • Successful experience delivering professional development activities at individual and whole school level
  • The ability to foster strong relationships and improve performance of others through coaching and mentoring
  • Strong skills in teaching and learning with the ability to both exemplify and identify good practice in teaching and learning at both the school and classroom level
  • Builds a positive ethos in the classroom and contributes to building a positive ethos in the school
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills, with the ability to work and communicate effectively with students, parents, school personnel and a wide range of stake holders
  • Strong ICT skills including high levels of proficiency in basic Microsoft Office applications and in the use of education management systems preferably SIMS
  • Strong data skill, with the ability to use date to inform sound decision making at the classroom level
  • Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills
