Job overview
We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic Teacher of Design Technology who is able to deliver Product Design up to level 3. The appointed person will join a strong team of 5 members of staff, will continue to improve attainment across all Key Stages and be part of future developments of Design Technology. Design Technology is a popular and successful subject with examination results significantly above the national average. In 2017 the results at GCSE were the best in Wandsworth. The department delivers a range of level 2 and 3 courses very successfully in six well-equipped specialist rooms.
Ernest Bevin College is an 11-19 boys’ school with 1250 on roll. We have a mixed sixth form of 370 students based in state of the art buildings with good transport links. Our last Ofsted inspection judged the school to be OUTSTANDING.
In 2017, 63% of pupils obtained both English and Maths at GCSE at Grade 4+, 33% obtained the EBacc at Grade 4+. Last year 130 students from our 6th Form went to University, 70 to study STEM related subjects.
We are an Elite Sports College competing at national and international level in a range of sports. We have full time coaches for volleyball, judo and table tennis and fantastic sports facilities including a swimming pool and fitness studio. These facilities are extensively used by students and staff free of charge.
We are one of only 4 schools in the country to have been awarded STEM Assured status, the only school in London to have a Combined Cadet Force on site and we have recently formed a Cricket Academy in partnership with Twenty20 Community Cricket.
