The role – Job description

Core purposes:

·      To work with all teachers to support them in the planning and preparation of lessons including the use of practical resources

·      To oversee health and safety procedures in science and other curriculum areas in school

·      To take an active role in the day to day running of the school including- administration tasks, supporting in classrooms and working with pupils etc…

·      To maintain the school’s resources to ensure they are fit for purpose and are used effectively by staff and pupils

Key accountabilities:

·      Making up solutions and assembling apparatus

·      Setting up and supporting the delivery of lessons

·      Collecting, checking and returning equipment to the storage area

·      Carrying out and/or arranging for maintenance or repair of resources

·      Constructing and modifying apparatus to suit the needs of the school

·      Trialing practical activities

·      Stocktaking chemicals, apparatus and school resources

·      Maintaining enough stock and resources

·      Placing orders and checking deliveries and invoices

·      Keeping learning areas, equipment and services tidy organised and good working order

·      Record keeping for maintenance and safety checks

·      Work in other curriculum areas to support pupils’ learning

 

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

Education: Relevant qualification: minimum of a Bed./ BA/ BSc in a relevant subject

Experience: Min of 2 years of experience as a DT technician in a British school either internationally or in the UK.
