About Rugby School
Founded in 1567, Rugby School is the UK’s leading co-educational true full-boarding and day school for pupils aged 13-18. We are a 7 days-a-week school with more than 200 years of House experience and a strong boarding ethos.
Rugby, probably more than any other school in the land, focuses on helping our students become ‘whole’ people – people who are multi-faceted in their interests, talents, and ambitions.
We recognise that the three strands of academic, co-curricular and pastoral are inherently and inextricably linked. It is the successful combining of these three strands which is at the heart of our “Whole Person Whole Point” ethos.
Our academic results are outstanding, with students consistently securing places at the top-ranking universities in the UK, and other students going on to prestigious universities abroad. Additionally, our renowned co-curricular programme offers more than 200 options and more than 28 sports with emphasis on both of excellence and participation.
Rugby's principal activity is the education and care of its students. Our primary objective is to develop rounded individuals who are also useful members of the community. All of our assets, income, and expenditure are directed to that purpose.
Rugby School Group
Rugby School Group is one of the UK’s most respected and forward-looking educational families, led by the historic Rugby School – the UK’s leading co-educational true full-boarding and day school for pupils aged 13-18.
The Group currently includes three prep schools – Bilton Grange, which joined in 2020; Aysgarth School, which joined in 2025; and Old Buckenham Hall, which joined in 2026 – as well as four international partner schools.
All schools share Rugby School’s core principle: The whole person is the whole point, underpinned by a universal commitment to developing ambitious, compassionate global citizens whilst maintaining the freedom for children to be children. Our prep schools tell the stories of foundation – building confidence, curiosity, and character – whilst Rugby School tells the stories of outcome: leadership, impact, and refinement.
