Job overview
Executive Summary
Wellington College International School Bangkok opened in September 2018 and has quickly gained a reputation as one of the top schools in the city, in Thailand and in the ASEAN region. The founding school was established in the UK 165 years ago and the links are very strong across all elements – ethos, values, teaching. The family includes schools in China, India and a new school about to open in Jakarta, Indonesia. A small number more schools are planned in Southeast Asia and across the world.
Wellington students benefit from a pioneering education. They will grow up to be global citizens who will help shape and serve the world. Their values are strong. Every student becomes inspired, individual, intellectual, inclusive and independent.
The School currently offers a first-class British education for students aged 2 to 17. Our first cohort of IGCSE students completed their examinations in June 2024 and achieved an average grade of A. We are academically selective, and our students thrive here. The language of the classroom and the playground is English, while we also honour our host country with daily Thai language and culture lessons. Our children are scientists, mathematicians, swimmers, dancers, leaders, and friends to all. Above all they are happy and fulfilled.
The school is situated on a 70 rai (28-acre) campus in Krungthep Kreetha. It houses the original Junior School building, a huge sports development with Olympic size pool, two full-sized football pitches, 400-metre running track, 600-seat theatre, the state-of-the-art Skylight building, and more exciting developments to come over the next four years. We currently have almost 1,000 students; when the school is completely full, in 5-6 years, that number will have grown to around 1,600.

Wellington College Bangkok
Wellington College Bangkok’s mission is to deliver the most exceptional international education in Thailand—and across the region. We are proud and thrilled to be able to provide a very important piece in the jigsaw of Bangkok’s growing prominence as a Southeast Asian hub, and we are delighted to welcome families of all nationalities.
Our School is purpose-built on an expansive greenfield campus. The buildings, designed by world-class architects, are airy and modern yet retain echoes of the grandeur of the past. Our sports provision includes a full Olympic-size 50-metre pool, a huge gymnasium, a 400-metre track, sports pitches, basketball and tennis courts, indoor and outdoor golf facilities. Our fully-equipped classrooms, Learning Studios, Reading Rooms, Harkness rooms, Faculty Salons, our extraordinary 600-seat Theatre, our stylish Copenhagen Café (named after the Duke of Wellington’s favourite horse), our equally chic Café 1815, as well as the recreation areas—the green of the trees and the grass, the blue of the water—all play their part in making the experience of being at Wellington unique, exciting and, on top of that, fun.
The global family of Wellington Colleges—in the UK, China, here in Thailand, and shortly in India—has a very strong reputation for the development of academic excellence, international-mindedness, leadership, responsibility, service to others, outstanding pastoral provision and an exceptionally rich programme of co-curricular activities.
Our values grow from those of our close partner school, the world-renowned Wellington College in Berkshire. It is a fundamental principle that every child can thrive when provided with outstanding, wide-ranging and open-ended opportunities to develop, explore and learn. Our students’ individual responses to these opportunities, shepherded by some of the best teachers in the world and supported by our uniquely dedicated pastoral teams, can set them on the path to extraordinary academic achievement—which, at Wellington, routinely goes hand-in-hand with excellence in performing and visual arts, sport and service to others. This is what it means for the whole child to flourish.
