Job overview
We are seeking to appoint an outstanding cricket professional to lead our successful cricket program. The post would suit an ex-professional or established cricket coach seeking to maintain and develop the outstanding cricket programme at Stamford.
Cricket has a long and storied history at Stamford School in Lincolnshire. The sport has been played at the school since at least the 1830s. Over the years, cricket has become one of the most prominent sports at the school, with many notable achievements and developments. Cricket continues to be one of our highest achieving sports in terms of both participation and performance across both boys and girls. In recent years we have had teams from both genders attend four national finals, consistently are county champions across the age groups, attend high profile cricket festivals and tour the subcontinent bi-annually, and have had individual players achieve national honours and professional contracts. Facilities at Stamford are first class across the two campuses there are two turf squares, four artificial, and 12 outdoor cricket nets (6 at our senior school and a further 6 at our junior campus), and both sports halls are utilised for indoor nets providing 8 lanes.
The successful candidate will coach and direct cricket to all age groups and will be expected to contribute to the other major sports (i.e. hockey, netball, rugby). The role entails leading the busy and successful cricket program through the provision of coaching, training and fixtures across the school week including Saturdays – during the summer term and delivering a robust pre-season program in the build up to the summer term.
Desired Criteria
- ECB level 3 or world wide equivalent.
- Played or coached in the professional game either at 1st class or International level.
- A good track record of successfully managing teams of staff and students.
- Ability to promote and foster team work leading and supporting other teachers, coaches & volunteers.
- Has a vision for Cricket at Stamford and can clearly identify the steps and tools required to achieve it.
Essential Criteria
- ECB level 2 or worldwide equivalent.
- A wide experience of teaching and coaching in both participation and performance.
- Experience in leading and developing Sports programmes.
- Be an approachable team leader with an ability to inspire others to work collaboratively.
- Be punctual, organised, efficient, and strong, at the deployment of resource effectively.
- High level communication skills with excellent time management.
- A proven track record in engaging and motivating young people.
- Sets and maintains high standards in all aspects of the role and personal presentation.
- Inspires others to have confidence through sharing personal knowledge and experience.
- Able to work effectively and collaboratively with the Director of Sport & Performance and put their vision into effect.
