Discovery College is seeking to appoint a Director of Curriculum who will play an essential role within the College community. The position offers the right candidate the opportunity to join the ESF family of twenty-two schools, lead and manage exciting new developments, and experience the dynamic environment that Hong Kong has to offer.

As part of its through-school identity, Discovery College strives to provide a coherent, aligned learning experience for every student across Years 1 - 13. The senior leaders of the College work together to ensure continuous improvement of this experience, built around the College’s vision, mission, outcomes and strategic direction. The Director of Curriculum is responsible for enacting these within the College Curriculum across Years 1 - 13, working collaboratively with the four IB Programme Coordinators, the Director of Co-Curricular and other leaders and teachers.


Responsibilities

Main Accountabilities:

  • Lead the College in ensuring a coherent curriculum continuum from Early Years through to Graduation, that fulfils the 5 DC Outcomes
  • Line Manage the Programme Coordinators and work with them to ensure all relevant IB programme standards and practices are in place to support programme accreditation
  • Ensure that the College’s educational provision is responsive to the outcomes of QA, including by responding to analysis of data such as exam results, benchmark testing, and internal reporting
  • Lead the College’s approaches to assessment design, ensuring a coherent experience for students and parents throughout Years 1 - 13
  • Collaborate with the Director of Co-Curricular, supporting the connections and alignment between students’ curricular and co-curricular experiences
  • Lead the Subject Selection processes, with particular attention to ensuring a thriving Career-related Pathway
  • Work with Middle Leaders to ensure that curricular and cross-curricular planning leads to exceptional student learning experiences, supported by a robust written curriculum

Other Leadership Responsibilities:

  • A variety of strategic and operational responsibilities in both Primary and Secondary as determined according to need
  • Line management of staff (with a focus on middle leaders) / teams, including via Professional Reflection and Development and the fostering of collaborative working practices
  • Participation in recruitment as appropriate to the role
  • Student support, including through attachment to specific year group(s)
  • Representation on groups and committees on behalf of the College, e.g. PTA
  • Work to develop the College’s approaches and practices in relation to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
  • Work on special projects, developments and innovation
  • Policy development and review
  • Quality Assurance development and implementation
  • Leadership and administration of key processes such as Admissions for specific sections of the College
  • Teaching responsibilities as appropriate to the role
  • Other duties and accountabilities as apparent or as delegated, including mutually agreed-upon objectives.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, or
  • Bachelor's Degree in the relevant subject with PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate of Education), or equivalent
  • Senior leadership experience in a similarly sized school
  • Experiences in a range of different schools and/or a school with a well-developed international outlook
