Are you dedicated, passionate and ready to make a huge difference in the lives of many children?

Due to the growth of Solihull Alternative Provision Multi Academy Trust, including our new Primary Provision and our expansion beyond Solihull in the West Midlands, we are looking for a highly motivated individual to join us in this exciting, brand-new role of Director of Education.

During our rapid expansion, we have continued to recruit committed, passionate and talented staff who ensure a full range of interventions to help change the outcomes of and life chances for our children for the better.

Solihull Alternative Provision Multi Academy Trust is an Alternative Provision like no other. We provide innovative solutions for students when mainstream education is simply not working. We are constantly evolving our approach according to the needs of each individual child by focusing on creating bespoke, proactive and personalised pathways.

Our vision for the children in our care is all about positive destinations and eliminating NEETs (young people not in education, employment or training).

About this role:

Working in close partnership with the Chief Executive Officer, Academy and provision leads, Central Trust Team and commissioners, you will be responsible for leading the work of the Trust’s school improvement plan and ensuring all academies are delivering the highest possible educational provision and achieving excellent outcomes according to the vision and ethos of the Trust.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Commitment to Alternative Provision as a game changer.
  • Resilience, tenacity and adaptability.
  • Excellent leadership, organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for working with and safeguarding the most vulnerable and high-tariff pupils.
  • Experience of leading a successful provision and driving forwards significant school improvement.

We welcome applications from individuals with extensive leadership experience and from a wide range of backgrounds.

Tours and informal conversations are welcome by prior arrangement, please contact Titania Low, HR Officer on 0121 709 5420 or by emailing hr@sapmat.org.uk.

Solihull Alternative Provision Multi Academy Trust exists because we have a commitment and passion for providing the best alternative provision to enable the educational futures and improve the life chances for every student who comes to us. We consider that a locally-led and accountable Trust focused on alternative provision provides the best outcomes for learners in danger of “falling through the cracks”. Our mission, across the Trust, is to:

  • Prevent Permanent Exclusion (and/or providing a pathway back from it)
  • Use more targeted intervention and relational teaching and therefore Fewer Fixed Term Exclusions (Suspensions)
  • Enable our students to beat their Baseline and KS2 targets

By doing this we are, most importantly, able to ensure there are No NEETS in our leavers.  Ensuring these positive destinations and outcomes of education, employment and/or training  for the most vulnerable, most disadvantaged  and highest-tariff children in the area is our clear focus and external partnerships, particularly with local employers/business are hugely important to enable us to continue hitting the targets for our students as we expand.

Our Trust is currently comprised of two schools; Solihull Alternative Provision Academy and Daylesford Academy, across three sites and we will be welcoming a third academy and three more sites in 2024.
