Job overview
Our school is a remarkable place and has been educating girls since 1888. Around one thousand girls, age 4 to 18, from Guildford and its surrounding towns and villages, enjoy exceptional facilities and inspired teaching. Guildford High School comprises a Junior School and Senior School, both on the same site. Whilst providing all-through education, each School has its own distinct personality and girls join us at many different entry points. Our staff are integral to delivering high quality education to the girls in our care, inspiring them to think and learn creatively. We seek to recruit and retain dynamic teaching and non-teaching staff that share in our vision and commitment.
Guildford High School is part of United Learning, a large, and growing, group of schools aiming to offer a life-changing education to children and young people across England. United Learning is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All positions are subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and shortlisted candidates will be subject to an online check.
We always appoint on merit, and we are open to discussing flexible working options.
A well-qualified, experienced and enthusiastic double bass teacher is required to join a large, flourishing and dynamic department. There are currently 3 hours of teaching, which could be increased, for pupils aged 8-18, including beginners and pupils working towards Grade 8 standard.
Guildford High School has 10 dedicated teaching studios for VMTs and the ideal teaching day would be Tuesday and/or Friday. A flexible approach would be welcome, in order that lessons do not always occur on the same day of the week.
The teacher will need to complete reports once a year, and attend the online Visiting Music Teachers’ Parents’ Evening in the Lent Term.
