We have an opportunity for an experienced Dyslexia Tutor to join our friendly and high-impact Learning Support Team for an immediate start in September 2024 on a part time basis (0.3-0.4).
Situated right beside St Paul’s Cathedral, in the heart of the City of London, at SPCS we educate 285 pupils aged 4-13, including the girls and boys of the world-famous Cathedral Choir.
You will play a key role in supporting our Prep and Pre-prep pupils (Reception to Year 8) to access the curriculum and to flourish in our happy school. You will focus primarily on supporting particular pupils but will also advise subject staff more generally and liaise with parents and external professionals. Tutoring will take place in individual sessions and also within the classroom. Suitably qualified tutors will also undertake assessment and screening.
This is a new role, introduced in the context of the recent and planned growth in the School and Cathedral Choir (the Chorister roll is doubling in size to 60 across the next few years with the development of the girls’ choir).
To be our successful candidate, you will hold at least Level 5 qualification in SpLD (or equivalent), and ideally have (or be working towards) the Level 7 Diploma, qualified to assess for dyslexia.
About our school:
St Paul’s Cathedral School is a co-educational independent preparatory school (Reception to Y8). The majority of our (up to 285) pupils are Day Pupils. We also educate the Choristers of St Paul’s Cathedral who are boarders at the school, accommodated in a purpose-designed boarding house. Music permeates the whole life of the school and is central to our ethos, in the context of a holistic education.
Until September 2023, all Cathedral Choristers were boys; we now educate girl Choristers as Day Pupils (they will board from September 2025, following a major refurbishment project now underway).

Structure and Line Management:
All staff report to the Head. The Dyslexia Tutor will be line managed by the SENCO.
Our Learning Support Department is led by our SENCO, who is supported by three part time staff.

About St Paul's Cathedral School
St Paul’s Cathedral School is a co-educational, Church of England, independent preparatory day school for around 250 children aged 4-13, located in the City of London. It has boarding provision for St Paul’s Cathedral boy choristers, who sing daily at the cathedral, from the age of seven. From September 2023, girl choristers have begun to sing in the cathedral.
The school is owned by the Dean and Chapter of St Paul’s Cathedral; its governing body is made up of five Canons and seven lay members, who are chaired by the Dean. St Paul's can trace its origins back to the 12th century and it existed for several centuries solely to educate the cathedral choristers. It has been co-educational since 2002.
